All around the world
| In Turkey, Greece and the Arab world: coffee is made in a little copper pot using very finely ground powdered coffee, never more than three cups at a time. The ground coffee is mixed with water and sugar or honey and then brought to a boil. It is left to sit for a few minutes to allow the coffee powder to settle at the bottom of the cup before drinking.
In Arabia: Powdered saffron is sometimes added to coffee for extra flavour.
In Central America: coffee is drunk with spices, honey and whipped cream.
In Morocco: coffee is sometimes flavoured with salt and pepper.
In the Middle East: cardamom is often added to coffee.
In England: a little mint liqueur may be added.
In Spain: caraquillo is a short espresso drunk with cognac. Cremat is a Catalan specialty traditionally made in a round terracotta dish for 4 to 12 people: a flambé of strong coffee, alcohol and orange peel.
In Brazil: coffee is drunk every day, with milk in the morning and short and black during the daytime: the famous cafe zinho.
